MUSIC

In this series, I explore my connection to music and express my passion for it through bold, high-contrast paintings. For Mick Jagger and Jimi Hendrix, I worked with acrylic paint, but I later discovered gouache and became drawn to its matte finish, which I used for Jim Morrison’s portrait. For each painting, I chose colours that I associate strongly with the music of these artists, aiming to capture the electric energy of their songs and the iconic eras they helped shape.
WOMANHOOD

In this piece, I explore the complexities of womanhood through Marina Abramović’s Rhythm 0. Using gouache over a soft watercolour background, I painted her in a blocky, pop art style inspired by Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe screen prints. Warhol’s focus on materialism and consumerism influenced my approach, reflecting how society often reduces women to objects. In her performance, Abramović became the embodiment of this objectification, enduring the consequences of being treated as passive and vulnerable. The pop art style adds an ironic twist, contrasting her raw suffering with the commodified portrayal of it. This clash reveals the unsettling truth that, as a woman, Abramović was reduced to a spectacle, her suffering transformed into something to be consumed.
