FACIAL RECONSTRUCTION
This project was a collaboration between myself and a classmate, where we worked together to reconstruct the face of an unknown individual from their human skull. Using the skull as a base, we created a cast of it and then researched tissue depth, muscle structure, and other anatomical factors to predict what the person may have looked like when they were alive. We carefully sculpted layers of muscle, tissue, and facial structure using clay and milliput to build a realistic model under the skin.
Once the basic reconstruction was complete, we moved on to adding colour and texture to restore life and personality to the features. This involved not just painting, but also techniques like dry brushing, detailed carvings, and adding hair. These methods helped to create a more relatable representation of the man’s age and history leading up to his death.
